**Urgent Message from U.S. Hemp Roundtable**

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) recently issued an Interim Final Rule on hemp which, among other things, could potentially criminalize the hemp extraction process.

Meanwhile, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently re-opened for comments its own Interim Final Rule on hemp production. The industry has found many of the requirements troubling and burdensome, while USDA Secretary Perdue admitted that some of the worst restrictions were the result of DEA interference.

The U.S Hemp Roundtable submitted comments to both agencies on September 15. You can read them here: USDA CommentsDEA Comments

Now it’s your turn. Please use our portal to submit your comments into the federal registry. We’ve prepared a draft for you, but we strongly encourage you to personalize your message with stories about how these regulations would impair your farm or business. Please also begin the letter with an introduction of yourself, your company, and/or your involvement in the industry.

Note that the USDA comments window ends October 8, while you have until October 20 to submit comments to the DEA.

The vision was vast: hemp-based textiles, nutritious foods, sustainable plastics, biochar, and new opportunities for rural communities.
