On St Patricks Day, Senator Lauwers filed the updated industrial hemp program legislation to conform with the USDA rules.
Please read them over and send us your thoughts / comments. Here are two big take aways that we noticed.
2020 SIB 0850 Sec. 313. A grower may sell industrial hemp to a processor that is licenced under the medical marihuana facilities licensing act, 2016 PA 281, MCL 333.27101 to 33.27801
Grower fee is raised to $1,250 to help cover the departments overhead.
There is language that indicates that you need approval to sell to a processor. That may have to do with the Sec.313. Looking for clarification. There is also language that you have to report all sales of hemp.
We need to get our hands around this and sort it out yet. The links to the bills are here for you convenience.
The good news for 2020 is that we are operating under the Pilot Program until Oct. 31st. This is our opportunity to experiment and dial in the production.
