The leading statewide trade association representing industrial hemp today hosted a roundtable to review Michigan’s pilot hemp season and discuss the highs and lows of the state’s newest agricultural commodity.
The roundtable, hosted by iHemp Michigan, featured regulators, farmers, processors and product manufacturers representing just a few of the many uses for industrial hemp – ranging from CBD oil to high-tech plastics.
iHemp Michigan members visited the Southern Hemp Expo. Come see what we learned at the Frankemuth Hemponomics 101 event.
A small group of about twenty gathered in Lapeer to discuss industrial hemp. Special thanks to John who cooked hemp heart encrusted chicken, potatoes, roasted vegetables and apple fritter type of dessert! We did more than enjoy the food though. Dave discussed the who, what, where, when and why of industrial hemp and a special guest, Valorie Aloisio, of Hemp Lifestyle Network provided detailed information about the role of the Endocannabinoid System in restoring balance to the Endocrine System with the use of cannabidiol.
iHemp Michigan was launched prior to the passing of the 2018 US Farm Bill and the timing of our first event couldn’t have been better in January 2019. Since then we have hosted events in St Johns, Bad Axe, and Lansing. For the last couple of months, we have been communicating with members through email and phone calls to share resources and knowledge to get planted.
As hundreds of farmers around Michigan plant industrial hemp for the first time, we are all in a process of learning. iHemp Michigan was formed to help with that process of learning and understanding the market for industrial hemp. Through our workshops and seminars, we help answer many of the questions with the help of experts from other states who have grown. All with the understanding and knowledge that things might be a little different in Michigan.
