A bill to amend 2000 PA 92, entitled “Food Law” was passed this week.
The big takeaway for Hemp is this language:
A food or dietary supplement is not adulterated solely because the food or dietary supplement contains or has added to it any quantity of industrial hemp-derived cannabinoids if the food or
dietary supplement meets the requirements under section 7136.

A letter accompanying the Processor Handler renewals lays out new rules and concerns.
Section 781 changes everything. In 365 days, “hemp” shifts to a Total THC standard, finished products face a hard cap of 0.4 mg per container, and non‑naturally occurring or synthesized‑outside‑the‑plant cannabinoids are out. FDA will post critical cannabinoid lists within 90 days.
Legislation is needed to move the Industrial Hemp Program to the USDA. We have a small window to accomplish this to save farmers the grower fees for next season.
